Betty Harper is an American artist and illustrator, best known as the official artist for Elvis Presley Enterprises. She has drawn over 20,000 images of Elvis Presley.
We will be unveiling a special T-shirt with her illustration.

If you have had the opportunity to visit the Birthplace, hopefully you have seen the free 26-minute movie that plays in the theater of our event center. “Elvis: Early Years” follows the life of Elvis in Tupelo.
The film was completed and started airing in 2012. A local boy played the part of Elvis. And, if you follow our Facebook page, you may have seen him as an adult as he was reporting for a local television news station during the Elvis Presley Festival held in June.
We met with him to discuss what he remembers about his experience as Young Elvis.

We have been busy at the Birthplace this year with two construction projects to make your visit even more enjoyable.
On the hillside at the east end of the pond Reflections, we have constructed a water feature to include a babbling brook feeding into a koi pond, then flowing into Reflections.
Created primarily of native stone, the koi pond is located at the north end of the Bridge Over Troubled Waters. These photos and the drone footage will have to suffice until you can make your next journey to the Birthplace.
Always with our fans in mind, we have created bus and automobile parking with a turnaround behind the statue Becoming. Now, you can drive your car or take your motorcoach to the top of the hill to view Tupelo just as Elvis did as a boy. Our thanks to the mayor and council of the City of Tupelo for their continued support of the Birthplace.

We are always happy to host our friends from the Elvis Travel Service/Strictly Elvis UK. David Wade and Carol Pugh have been bringing groups here for years, and it is always like a family reunion when we see each other.

We held our annual Fan Appreciation Day on Saturday, August 12, with performances from two Elvis Tribute Artists, live music on the grounds, “Elvis burgers” cooked by the Elvis Presley Tupelo Fan Club, and discounted prices for the paid attractions.
We were overwhelmed by the love and response we received from Elvis fans. A lot of fans came to the Birthplace to take part in the event, and we had many well-wishers from messages that we received.
We showcased our recently refurbished gift shop and our new collection of Elvis memorabilia on loan from Jon Daily and the EP Blvd Pawn Shop.
I am very grateful for my team who share their passion for Elvis with every guest. This event would not be possible without their input and participation.

We’re having Fan Appreciation Day on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at the Birthplace.
The Birthplace will be the place you want to be.
As this is the 50th anniversary of the Aloha from Hawaii concert, our theme this year is Aloha from the Birthplace!
Tickets will be at reduced prices. We’ll have Elvis Tribute Artists. We’ll have live music covering the genres that Elvis covered. We’ll have door prizes and giveaways.
We will have a special T-shirt on sale to commemorate Fan Appreciation Day. The T-shirt will be sold at the Birthplace on August 12. The T-shirt is available only in the gift shop.

We tell the story of the Innocence of Elvis a lot at the Birthplace, but do you know how this park came to be? Do you know who put up the money to make this a city park and how it was used before it became the Elvis Presley Birthplace and Museum?
This is a gift from Elvis himself. Elvis performed concerts in his hometown of Tupelo in 1956 and 1957. He handed the check for his 1956 concert over to the city of Tupelo, saying that he noticed that the house where he was born and 13 acres around it were for sale. The check was to purchase the house and the land and turn it into a park for the children of East Tupelo. In 1957, he wrote a check to the city of Tupelo to build a youth recreation center.

I am very fortunate.
I have a long history of studying Elvis. I’ve researched Elvis and his family most of my life. While doing my research, I met a lot of people and heard a lot of stories. I enjoy that.
Now, people from all over the world come to see where Elvis was born, and they bring their stories of how Elvis touched and influenced their lives. They share their passion for Elvis and his music with me. And, they listen intently as I answer their questions from the experiences and information I have from my research.
It just doesn’t get any better than this!

Family was very important to Elvis. Family is very important to all of us. Losing a family member is devastating.
Elvis left quite a legacy of kindness and generosity.
It was tragic when Lisa Marie passed. And though the story of the Birthplace is about her father, some folks here wanted to honor her with their kindness and generosity.
After all, it’s all about family.

We are always planning ways to make your experience here a good one. We’re getting a few spring projects done to make your visit here one you will remember and want to return and visit again.
So, when you come to the Birthplace, it may look a little different than you remember it. And, we hope it makes you smile.
Also, the Birthplace is working with a senior-level integrated marketing communications class with the University of Mississippi. They have created a survey as part of their class project. The information about this at the end of the newsletter. Would you consider helping the class out by taking the survey?

At the Elvis Presley Birthplace, as with all the decisions we make, we keep the fans in mind. You are who make this place great, and we want you to have a great experience when you come here.
Only three of our attractions are ticketed. Everything else is free.
We have a new feature we are currently installing to enhance the experience of fans both during open hours and even after hours.
This is just a little extra that we want our fans to have to help their experience of Elvis.

January 8, 2023, was a magical day at the Birthplace.
We had a birthday party. The Birthplace was decorated both for Elvis’ birthday and for Christmas. We learned from Tom Brown that the Presleys would keep the Christmas decorations up until after Elvis’ birthday, so we did too.
We had a lot of door prizes to give away. And, congratulations to Serita Jackson, our grand prize winner of the Elvis-themed Christmas tree.
The highlight of the afternoon was the concert. A young Elvis – Wyatt S. from Fulton, Mississippi – started the concert. We were treated to “Ol’ Shep” and other songs by Julie Grisham of Tupelo. Then our headliner – Elvis Tribute Artist Jack Curtis – gave us a concert of Elvis music.
